Norway National
The National rounds in Norway were a good way for Skizo to get some quality laps in before the European round in Italy and the first 2012 Olympic points qualifier SX round in Denmark. The field is small but doesn’t lack any talent and there are always loads of good quality riders at the races.
Skizo felt pretty tired both days as he trained through the week for the goal races being the Euro rounds and the World Cup. Sifiso put in some good laps and racing which is what he needed to feel confident on the bike at the bigger races.
Skizo commented, ?I realized that the only way I will improve this year is to keep going to the races and race my way back in to form because I feel good physically but bike confidence is something that only comes from the more consistent laps you put in weekend in and weekend out at the races. I qualified into the main both days at the Norwegian national round and got second both days which I was happy with.
European Rounds 3 & 4 Italy.
Traveling with a clear head Skizo said he felt good as he had put in some good training from the last big race and was ready to step it up. This last weekend 1 May 2010 he was on his way to Italy to race rounds three and four of the European Championship in Italy.
Skizo commented after practice, ?Practice went ok and the track was really tech and dangerous in some sections but I made the best of it. I knew that racing would be way different from training because we would coming into those dangerous section way faster and would be battling all the way to the finish line.?
Day one came as a shock to most of the riders as there were big crashes in every moto and the medical staff were hard at work. Day one of racing saw no less than 15 riders been carried off the track and taken to hospital for further treatment. Nhlapo managed to keep it cool and transfer out of motos into 1/8, 1/4 and the semi final which he won all of those heats so transferring into the final the young South African was ready to stand on the top step of the podium again. In the main Skizo was late on the gate and a mistake like that is hard to come back from and he finished a well deserved 8th position.
After 8 months of being off the bike it has taken Sifiso four races to get back into the final, after the race Skizo said, ?I felt really good on the track and am happy with the progress leading upto the next SX round in Denmark. It was a hard decision but the managers had a meeting and seeing all the crashes on day one of racing we decided not to risk anything and not race the second day. I need to focus on the Supercross race this coming weekend in Denmark which is the first Olympic qualifying race for 2012. Im looking forward to the race this weekend and I?m happy with my improvement weekend after weekend and I cant ask for anything more right now.
Thank you skizo105 fans and all my sponsors for the support.
