Update 23 June09 7pm: From Mark Squire

Just come home from visiting Thoko (Sifiso mom) and the family. While I was there Anders got Skizo on the line, he obviously couldnt speak as they cut through the front of his neck to operate but it had some soothing effect on Thoko just to be able to speak to Sifiso and "hear" his voice.
There have been so many emails and sms that i stopped counting after 300, and thats just to me so I cant begin to imagine all the support and the rest of the messages going to Sifiso phone...Anders said he has recieved over 400 sms already.
Skizo today when there were no nurses and doctors around was trying to get Anders to get him out the bed to see if he can walk and stand, so with that we know his mind is already in recovery mode and he wants to get back on his bike.
He will unfortunately not make PMB but he will be there to watch and support the Elite riders from SA. The doc has said a 10-12 week recovery period with the brace, he has said that Skizo is also in good shape and strong so it wouldnt surprise him if it took him 6-8 weeks to get out the brace.
Thanks again for all the support, he is in good hands with Anders and his family and Marie his coaches wife arrives there tonight.

Update 7am SA Time 23 June 09: From MARK SQUIRE

Thanks for all the mail and wishes Sifiso has been receiving. He came out of surgery just before 1am this morning and was speaking to the doctor right after he woke up. Skizo was complaining about alot of pain which the doctor has said is normal for this type of surgery. He will be in hospital for another two days and then go to Anders house to start recovery.
The doctor after surgery has said he will make full recovery. So just waiting to see how long before he can come home etc….
BIG thank you to Anders and his family for the care they are taking of Skizo while he is there.
Im sure it wont be long before we will see a chirpy update from Skizo on Twitter.
